Lemon juice Perfectly
I am going to show you how to juice a lemon and the same applies for a lime, to get the most juice that you could possibly get out of this. So it starts at the supermarket when you pick out a lemon or a lime you should pick it up and feel it and it should be slightly soft. Not mushy but soft because then it means that, number one, the skin is thin and that it is juicy. So sometimes you will get them and they are hard as rock and I will tell you, you are going to have a hard time juicing them.
Alright, so first, you are going to cut it in half. And if you are using a hand-held press, like I am, and you have a pointy end you might want to cut it off. You do not have to but I find you get a little more leverage. And this is the hand-held press that I am using, also known as a Mexican Citrus Press. Mexican Citrus Press, say that three times fast. So you will put the cut side down. It looks like you want to put it this way but then you will just get an eye full of lemon juice that way. So cut side down in. Over this, and then over the bowl and then you will squeeze, squeeze, squeeze. And it almost turns it inside out. Like that.
Now, another way is using something that you probably have in your kitchen, is a mixer or a mixer beater from a hand-held mixer, and you can use it like a citrus reamer. So over the bowl, you put the beater in to it and just give it a twist. And you could also use a fork but this covers the whole half of the lemon. The only thing you will need is a strainer over this to catch any seeds. With the other citrus press it catches the seeds. And give it a little squeeze, and there you go.
